We found out I was pregnant on July 11th. Our baby was concieved on June 22nd. I started spotting about a week after we found out I was pregnant. I went to the doc on July 21st to get checked out, had blood drawn to check for the pregnancy hormone, went in Tuesday for an Ultrasound which was inconclusive (how you don't see a baby is beyond me), had more blood drawn on Wednesday. My hormones were way up so I had a second Ultrasound on July 30th. We got to see our little baby and the heartbeat. We were so excited! We saw the doc again on August 14th, got to hear the heartbeat and everything was great.
I had a few other appointments where everything was great, a strong heartbeat which had to be chased around my belly since the little one hated that machine. We had our big Ultrasound on October 17th. We found out that we were expecting a boy and he was the picture of health! We named him Ethan James. That day is one I will never forget, I could not wipe the smile off my face for anything! We got 8 Ultrasound pictures. We told everyone we could that we were indeed having a little boy and everyone was so excited for us.
On November 8th I got up at night to pee and I thought I pee'd myself a little. Looking back I should have known something was wrong, I really didn't have to pee that bad. But I went back to bed, got up and went to church Sunday morning. I was having a lot of braxton hicks contractions so I timed them, I had 4 in 45 minutes. I did not call the doctor because it didn't really seem like a big deal and they eventually calmed down. The rest of the day passed without event. My back hurt a little before we went to bed, but again it did not seem unusual since I was sitting funny all night. I woke up to a lot of back pain, felt more like a gas bubble in my back. I got up to pee a few times, the last time there was some blood and I woke Shawn up, then woke my mom up. I called the hospital and they said to come in.
So I went in, was admitted at 5:30am on November 10th. The nurse hooked me up, found Ethan's heartbeat, then left the room to order some labs. While she was out my water broke. I immediately called her back in and then she left again to get a kit to determine if it was amniotic fluid. Again while she was out of the room I gave birth to my beautiful son at 6:12am. I called the nurse back and, her and another nurse looked (I couldn't bare to look), it was indeed our son. They cut the umbilical cord and let me hold him. Shawn and I cried as I held our son for 2 hours. They took him to get footprints and such. I couldn't bare to see him again knowing it would be my last time. So they did not bring him back in the room. I was kept in the hospital until 5pm that night and then they let me go home.
